Day Four

Sunday we decided to drive to Washington DC for the day and see the sites. I like to capture just about as much with pictures as I can....so I started with our 3 1/2 hour car ride there. Jan thinks she pretty cool in our Cadillac!
You see our GPS thing....that saved us so much. I didn't realize how handy that is to have in the car....especially when traveling to other cities that you don't know about.

One thing we don't deal with in Utah and Idaho...tolls. This was a huge toll station on the way into Baltimore.

I loved the drive...the freeways are lined with all the trees and everything is kept up so well.

About the smallest car I have ever seen. Funny huh? That really would have been easier to park than the Escalade. We started out in DC by going to Arlington National Cemetery. I have always wanted to go there....and it was overwhelming to be there. Here are some facts about Arlington: it is 624 acres, over 290,000 servicemen and there family members rest there. about 24 to 30 burials are conducted every weekday.
We took a tour bus thing that took us to several stops on the Cemetery. First is where JFK is burried.
Second was the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. That was really neat to see. They have the changing of the guards every 30 minutes. It has a guard there round the clock.

After we got back on the tourmobile (as it was called) we were sitting right behind his guy....we were on a open bus and he had the worst BO ever. I'm telling about this cause Janet was about to throw up....so that just made me start laughing so hard...and you are supposed to be kinda respectful and quiet....and we are in the bus, Janets gagging and I am laughing. Something to remember!

Then we went to Lincoln Memorial. All these things I have seen on TV and stuff but in person you get a much better idea of just how huge everything is.

HOLY CRAP!! I haven't checked your blog since last week! Freakin' impressive. I'm in love with all of your pictures and keeping track of it all on the blog. It'll be a nice journal for later. You two are packing in the sites and the fun. Good for you! You'll be beat by the time your trip is over, but at least you made the most of it. Wish I was there!!
