Props

I was thinking that I really need to give props to some people that have helped me out post surgery already! First and foremost.....my awesome mom. She came and stayed with me the first whole week. She was even the one that went and stayed in the hospital with me so Jason could continue to work. I don't know what it is about having my mom take care of me....but everything just feels like its going to be fine. I can't even say enough amazying things about my mom. She cooks, she cleans, she takes care of the kids, she cleaned out my flower beds and garden, she did laundry, she mended some torn blankets, she walked with me....and last but not least....she just comforted me in a way that no one else could have. She does all these things and never makes you feel bad about doing them. She would just say "I'm just so happy to help". I know it was a sacrafice for her to come here and stay all week away from her house (and have to sleep on a lowsy bed) but I can't say enough how much I needed and appreciated it. Thanks mom!

Secondly, my friends! I have had several friends and family members come out to visit or bring things over. How nice and thoughtful! I have Tiffany that spent Sunday out here....watching Lifetime movies (wow I can't believe I have went my whole life without Lifetime.....ha, ha)....I just love her company of course...and as always lots of laughs all day long. My sister Janet took last Friday off and came out for the whole day....brought movies and books. Also love her just being around. We could sit and do absolutly nothing and I think have a great time just because we are hanging together. And of course Ted, Tami, Carson and Mitch came on Friday as well. I know they both have busy schedules and it was so nice to have time to come out. They not only brought the Gopher, but Tami also brought several meals that we could freeze and eat later. Can't say enough about how thoughtful I thought that was. Lani, Craig and little Payton came out on Monday for dinner and hanging out. I always love Payton to come visit for sure. It love having a little girl around. Lani has come out during the days even before my surgery just to hang out and and keep me company. That is so fun to have someone else that doens't work come out for the day. Lani is also helping watch Logan this week....so thanks a million. I also had my good friend Nalani come out last night with her little boy Cash. Cash....oh I could keep him. But Nalani brought yummy soup, bread and cookies out for dinner for us, and of course we could have talked all night long just catching up and gossiping. I just love her!
Last...I can't forget Jason! He has been a huge help. He is now taking care of the kids and working. Last night he took the boys up hunting behind our house. It is the Muzzleloader right now and they went out looking for deer. The boys love spending as much time as they can with their dad. He does a great job of taking care of me and them!
I don't think I have even covered everyone. I have so many great friends that are so nice and thoughtful.....nice phone calls, or even sending flowers....thanks so much everyone! I really do appreciate everything. The thing I have realized....its hard asking for help. With the situation I am in, I have to ask for help...and its humbling for sure. I also know that I need to do better about helping others. This is a good reminder to me of that!

The Gopher

I had my back surgery on Wedesday and got to come home on Thursday. So far things have been ok....really sore and hard to get up or down (like to lay down or get out of bed). My restrictions are that I can't do any bending, lifting, twisting, crawling.....you get the idea....or riding in a car for 6 weeks. So day one....I dropped something and you just have to look at it. It feels weird that you can't just bend down and pick it up. The thought that I couldn't ever pick anything up for the next 6 weeks...I didn't know how that would work. On Friday Ted and Tami came out to visit and guess what they brought me? A gopher......you can see the pictures below. But you can grab things up high or things that you drop. I guess that Tami's mom has has a couple back surgery's and told Tami that would be the best thing they could get me. And so far...its true. It really does work...and it really does help a ton. So thanks Ted and Tami.....that will be a huge help over the next several weeks.

Funny....I got these pictures off the "gopher" website........gives you an idea how cool it is.

Back Problems

Well I don't know if it is good news or bad news....but I had a doctors appointment today and found out that I am having back surgery next week. I had an MRI done last week and I have a really large herniated disk that needs to be removed. It has caused my right leg to go numb some of the time and it has been very painful. I have been laying low over the last couple weeks until I found out what was going on. I kinda knew it was coming down to having the surgery but to actually sit down with the doctor and talk about it.....well, it really freaked me out. Anyone that knows me understands what a phobia I have when it comes to anything "medical". I mean I hate getting flu shots, let alone the thought of going in for surgery. I think that the thing that was most tramatic is the doctor basically goes over everything that "could" go wrong. And that feels overwhelming.

I was such a mess after the doctor appointment. I just had gotten myself so worked up and nervous....but I came home and took a nap and just tried to relax. I will have surgery next Wednesday (the 17th) and have to stay over at the hospital hopefully just one night. Wish me luck. I will keep the blog updated!

Fun Weekend

I have not been taking nearly as many pictures as I normally do. I always regret it later too....like this weekend....we had lots of fun family time, but so few pictures to show for it.

All my family was here this weekend...Mom and Dad and even Beau and Kristi. On Saturday, of course the boys had to all get together for golfing so the girls all decided to drive out to Tooele to see Janet. We stopped at her house, then drove out to her work at the Alpine Academy. This first picture is of my sista's in Janet's office....Janet is holding her "Worlds Best Boss" mug. You would think this was cute if someone actually bought it for her right? Well she bought it for herself which makes it even funnier to me. Sorry for bustin' you out Jan!

I just can't get enough of cute little Payton. I don't know if its cause we haven't had any little girls in the family for so long or what....but she is just the cutest thing ever!
Out on the campus at Janet's work...the kids had lots of fun riding around on the golf cart.

Then of course Willis and Cooper....they had a blast running around! They were really brave to get so close to these horses.
See...here's where I wish I had more pictures. After our trip to Tooele we went to Ted's for a BBQ. Like always....it was lots of fun!!! Good food and good company! I wish we could all get together more often!
