San Diego

I have spent the last couple days in San Diego for work...but it was lots of fun. We got to go see lots of cool stuff, here are some pictures from a harbor cruise we took, tour of the Midway and also a picture of the Mustang that they gave us as a rental.

Heading Home

As we left Boise on Sunday afternoon, we stopped to see Beau at "The Yard", I guess thats what they call it....he is a firefighter. We stopped to see his fire engine...it was pretty cool. Then as you can see I took some other pictures of the car ride home....the long car ride home. It is a 6 hour drive, and I felt the pain of every hour. Me and Janet had the hardest time staying awake....it was bad. As you can see, the sceen isn't the nicest to look at!

Wedding Shower

The reason we went to Boise was to go to KK's wedding shower. It was a lingerie shower. We had it at my Aunt Marilyn's house. It was lots of fun, I'm glad we made the drive over to go to it!

Tour De Fat

While we were in Boise we went to this event at a park....it is called "Tour de Fat". It is some sort of biking event that is just the craziest thing I have ever seen. (By the way...Boise is a huge biking community, thats why this kind of thing works there). Anyway, it was hilarious, people were riding the craziest bikes and everyone dresses up in outfits, just more than you can hardly take. Me and Janet decided to try to see who could get more pictures with crazy people....but she won. I gave up, but even my dad got in on it as you can see in this first picture with the girl with the huge.....well you can see!

Trip to Boise

Hangin out downtown Boise.
Of course we couldn't all get together with out going out for Sushi....once again it was delicious!

First Day of Kindergarten

I took Bridger to his first day of Kindergarten. I'm glad I did....it was really cute to see him all excited and ready to go. He has a little boy Fisher that he goes to daycare with and they are in the same class so he wasn't as nervous since they were together. The teacher came out and made them all line up, then they all walked in together and said good bye to the parents. I almost had the feeling I could cry....but I held it in and I didn't cry at all. I have to say I didn't think I would be sad, but there was something a little sad about my little boy seeming so grown up!

That's my girl.....

Here is an article that was in Saturday's Tribune newspaper about my neice Rylee. I have to say, I'm pretty proud of her....I was worried about a girl playing football, but she can hold her own....I think it is pretty cool!!! Read the article!

Girls in football
Female linemen just 'one of the boys' to teammates, coaches
Tooele, Kearns players notice few differences in treatment of girls playing ball with boys

Click photo to enlargeRylee Mulitalo heads back to practice at Tooele High on... (Stephen Holt/Special to The Tribune )«1»Number 60 shows up to Tooele High School football practice a little differently from the other Buffaloes. The offensive lineman gets out of the car in full pads, needing only to put on some spikes and shoulder pads to be fully dressed.
That's the price to pay when you're the first girl on the team.
Rylee Mulitalo is hoping for another first. If the freshman were to make the varsity team as a starter, she would likely be the first girl to play an every-down position for a high school football team in Utah.
It's a journey that's just starting for Mulitalo, and it hasn't been without some odd moments. At her first practice this summer, Mulitalo showed up needing to change into her pads, but nobody had a key to the girls' locker room. She had to change behind a towel held up by her mom, Janet Mulitalo.
Mother and daughter laugh about the incident. People just aren't used to girls being on a football team.
Tooele coach Sam Elliott and his staff have had to make changes to their practices. It's all business now, and it's definitely not anything like playing Little League football.
"In Little League, we used to run around the field and slap each other on the butt," Rylee Mulitalo said. "They don't let us do anything like that anymore. It's pretty serious."
The Mulitalos are used to the attention

by now. Rylee started playing football in seventh grade, though she had played informally with her brother and dad in the back yard for years.
"Coaches were like, 'What's she doing out here?' at first," Rylee's dad, Frisco Mulitalo, said. "It took them a little while to figure out she was for real."
Is she ever.
Just ask her teammates. A group of defensive linemen were asked about facing the female offensive lineman.
"She's bad, man," one said, shaking his head.
"It's cool," said another.
It'd better be. Rylee Mulitalo is only about 5-foot-8, but packs a punch at more than 200 pounds. She can bench press 150 pounds. Her coaches say Mulitalo is stronger than any of the other freshman offensive lineman. She'll likely get some minutes on the sophomore team, at the least.
Not bad. And not quite as good as Kearns' Dorcus Angilau. The junior will be a starter on the junior varsity for the Cougars and she'll be dressed for varsity games.
At 5-8, 215 pounds, she's about the same size as Mulitalo, but packs even more of a punch. Angilau squats 425 pounds and bench presses 175 pounds.
And she has the keys to the girls' locker room at Kearns, so she can change at the school before and after practice. That's about the only difference you'll find between Angilau and her teammates.
"The coaches just treat me like one of the guys, and I totally respect that," Angilau said.
Still, she's not the norm.
"You have qualms with it, at first, especially with me being from Texas, it's different," Kearns coach Bill Cosper said. "But she just really loves football and she's one of the guys."
Angilau's ability to fit in with the boys is as much genetic as anything - her brother, Lui, is on the varsity and her cousin is also on the team.
Still, Mulitalo and Angilau's coaches have worries. They won't put them on the field if they're not ready for varsity play. Though there have been kickers who have come in to attempt the occasional extra point in Utah, these are no show ponies. They're on the line, where things get dirty and painful very fast.
Both girls said their size might not be an issue if they were boys - there are some linemen around their size on varsity teams across Utah. If size is the only issue, Angilau isn't having any of it.
"I'm surprised nobody else has done it," Angilau said. "I'm surprised at myself, actually, that all the hard work has paid off and I'm starting on the junior varsity.
"I'm really excited."
Also excited are the girls' families.
Both girls' parents were hesitant to let their daughters play.
"I'm recovered," Janet Mulitalo said. "I'm good now. She's tough as nails. Especially now, seeing her play with the boys."
One boy Rylee Mulitalo has played a little football with is her uncle, NFL offensive lineman Ed Mulitalo, who plays for the Detroit Lions.
Ed has seen Rylee develop from a little baby into a potential lineman. When Rylee went to Florida to visit Ed this summer at his house, the two did a little rough housing.
"She threw her shoulder into me and I was like, 'I don't do this unless there's a paycheck involved,' '' Ed said.
"She's chosen the roughest way [to play football]," he said. "Everyone has that kida of how your niece should act and if they did go out for football, you'd want them to find more of a finesse way.
"But she's a lineman. She's a spicy one."
That might just be what it takes.

What about Logan?

You may notice there are no pictures of Logan (in the post below) when we went camping...but he stayed home with a friend of ours. I had to show off his new camo that Jason bought him though. He will go with us when we go camping over Labor Day Weekend, but thought I would just post this cute picture of him sportin' the camo look!

Opening Weekend....

....of the bow hunt. Here goes another weekend of camping! It was the opening weekend of the bow hunt....for those that don't know it is a big deal, everyone was there....the whole gang! It was lots of fun, but I hate when I get home and realize I didn't take that many good pictures. I meant to take some pictures of all the guys as they were heading out to hunt, I would have to say they look pretty tough all dressed up in their camo and carrying their bows. No one got a deer this weekend, but the season is young, there will plenty of opportunity.
Here is Bridger and Cole (Cole is John and Loreli's son...they are good friends of ours. Early in the morning we would try to entertain the kids while the boys were out hunting still. Here they are in our trailer, watching movies, coloring and playing with toys.

Loreli and Cole....I have to say it was great seeing these guys this weekend. They used to live close to us but moved to Vernal (Vernal is about 3 hours from SLC...out in the middle of nowhere) We miss them, but we will get to see them lots during hunting season.
Bridger is playing on John and Loreli's newest toy...the Rhino! I have to admit that I didn't think I would like these (of course Jason wants one too) but after taking it for a ride I really like it!
Jason is giving Beau some fresh water...just thought it was a cute picture!!!
Picture of John, Loreli and Cole...Loreli is also pregnant and due in November, she's having a girl!
Another friend brought up one of their nine puppies they have....Bridger wouldn't leave him alone.
Last but not least...me and Bridger stopped to wash the Jeep on the way home...he was a good helper, I let him help wash and dry the whole thing. Funny how things like that seem really cool to kids...he probably won't like it when he's older and dad is making him wash his truck every week! :)

Camping

A couple weeks ago we sold our little trailer because we wanted to upgrade into a bigger one. After weeks and weeks of looking Jason found the perfect one! We were anxious to take it out so we left Friday to go camping. It was just Jason, me and the boys and one of Jason's friends. Since the bow hunt starts next week we just took the trailer up to where we go hunting and we are leaving it there for the next several weeks if not months. It is pretty fun like that, the whole gang that hunts just parks their trailers all together, there will probably be about 5 or 6 trailers all together. When everyone is up there for the hunt it is tons of fun.
Here is Jason and Briger getting ready to go out and look for deer. I decided to just hang out at the trailer with Logan and make dinner. Logan had a good time too, he will sit and watch movies and tries to be a good sport.

Stay tuned...

...for the arrival of baby girl Martineau!!! My sister Lani is in labor right now, she has been keeping me updated over email (I think she took her laptop with her...funny huh?). I think that Lani wants to be the first to post pictures of the little bundle of joy, so she is starting a blog (www.martineaumoments.blogspot.com) so watch for pictures on her site as soon as she is born. I will post pictures just as soon as I'm allowed! :)
