SPUD DAY!

Spud Day....what to say about Spud Day? Okay for those that don't know about Spud Day let me try and explain....It takes place every September in Shelley Idaho....my hometown. It is to basically to kick off the potato harvest, I can't even say how long this has been going on, but the day is always filled with lots of fun small town events. For the last couple years Tami (my sister-in-law) enters the "spud run" and she has taken first place in the 10K run the last two years---go Tami. Then there is a parade down mainstreet, then the other festivities start at the city park...its kinda like a mini fair. Lots of little booths to buy stuff, but the best has always been the funnel cakes or the prime steer burgers. The biggest attraction is probably the "spud pit". A cement truck mixes (I don't know how many gallons) of mashed potatoes and then dumps it into a pit and they have tug-a-wars across it. Whoever looses gets pulled into the huge pit of mashed potatoes. This year I wasn't able to go but Lani took lots of pictures so I thought I would post them on the blog. I would have to say that Spud Day is a blog worthy event!! Tami on her 10K run!
Tami, mom, Kristi, dad, Ted, Craig---then Mitch in the back of the truck and Carson picking up candy. At the parade---it looks like is was a really cold day!

Carson had to show off all the candy he got from the parade....he scored for sure!
