The weekend was finally here for our bike ride. We were all very excited...and a little nervous, not knowing what to expect. On Friday night we went to the Fairgrounds and got checked in and picked up our rider packets.
Mindy and Tiffany about 6:30am the morning of the ride.
Everyone was starting to gather to start the ride.

Mindy, Tiffandy and Natalie.....getting ready to start!
There were about 3000 riders, so at the start line they let waves of riders go at each time. We waited about 45 minutes before we go to even start. Out of the 3000 riders, there was probably about 50 people on mountain bikes....we were 4 of them. All I have ever known is my mountain bike, but tons of people gave us props along the way for doing the ride on the mtn bike. You just work so much harder on mtn bikes because of the big tires. Maybe I will have to work at getting a road bike.
Here is about 8 miles into the ride at our first rest stop. Each morning was so nice and perfect weather. At this point we were just cruisin' along good.
Here is our trip coming to and end...unloading the truck! It was a success!
We didn't take any other pictures on Saturday during the ride. We were just in riding mode and didn't feel like taking any pictures. It was a fun ride....but as it heated up it got harder and harder. The last ten miles of this ride were so hard for me. We finally finished, went and got lunch, showered and took a long nap.
We loved our hotel....it was brand new and we were so happy everything was nice and clean.

Day two: The alarm went off at 5:00 am and I think I swore. Morning came way to quick and the last thing I wanted to do was get on my bike again. I was sore everywhere and tired. We packed up and headed off to the ride. We took off from the start right about 7:00am and the first mile, my legs hurt, my butt hurt and I wasn't sure I had another ride in me. Two miles into the ride...there was our first hill, I thought "You got to be kidding me". Day two was a different route than the first day so we didn't know at all what to expect, except someone had said it was more difficult. Once I started to climb, I really thought to myself "I can't do this". Although it was so hard, I was too prideful to give up. There were lots of climbs on this route and there were times I thought I coule die.....but we just kept going. This picture above was at Hyrum Dam...and it was so pretty.
The only confession I have is that we took at 10 mile short cut. So on day two we only ended up riding 30 instead of the full 4o.

We stopped for lunch and had 16 miles left and once again I thought I don't know if I can go that much more. My legs were like Jello! I took it slow, but finally after it felt like forever we saw the fairgrounds and were so happy to be done.
I was so proud of all of us for finishing...it felt great to have done the ride and we all plan to do it again next year.

It was a long drive home and we were all tired....but as we turned into Tiffanys driveway this is what we saw. I thought it was so dang cute for her husband and boys to do something so thoughtful.

WAY TO GO!!! YOU LADIES ROCK!!! You are just too awesome! That sounds like it was so hard! Next weekend you better go with your friends to a spa or something!
Not to sound too sappy or patronizing..."GOOD JOB GIRLS"! From someone who spends a lot of time on a bike (so I really know)...that is a HUGE accomplishment!! I'm super proud of you for signing up, for training, and for sticking with it...even when you didn't want to!! I'd love to join you for the next one!
Congrats on your accomplishment! Looks like you had a great time despite the physical and emotional pains of the challenge. DON'T YOU FEEL SO STOKED ABOUT ACHIEVING SOMETHING YOU WORKED HARD TO DO?! LOVE THAT FEELING!
Are you kidding me? Julie, you are amazing! I am so impressed. I can promise you wouldn't catch me dead doing that. What an accomplishment! LoR
